Glen buddy I think that's right and the trade-off too between 3 and 5 degree pins.

I was never very fond of the noise that the SM saw makes when slotting the bridge, top, and plate. It sounds like it's ripping the heck out of what we just spent weeks crafting.... Shoving a towel in the sound hole helps with the screams...

When I'm done fitting the pseudo strings (just the ball ends plus about 6") I follow up with a quick sanding of the bridge plate to knock off any rough edges.

So who's going to start a related thread that could be titled "Bridge Pin Material Impact On Perceived Tone - Fact Or Fiction?" I remember this thread (with a different title) from years ago and Al C. setting me straight and suspect that it would be of great value to some of the newer folks too.
